Volunteering Opportunities

Girlguiding Wharfedale provides a safe and supportive environment for girls and young women in the local area to have fun, make new friends, and develop their potential. The division covers the Rombald’s District (including Addingham, Ben Rhydding, and Ilkley) and the Woodhead District (covering Burley in Wharfedale and Menston).

Sections and Age Groups

  • Girlguiding Wharfedale offers a range of units tailored to different age groups, each with its own program of activities and adventures:
  • Rainbows: For girls aged 5-7 years old.
  • Brownie Guides: For girls aged 7-10 years old.
  • Guides: For girls aged 10-16 years old.
  • Ranger Guides: For young women aged 14-25 years old.

Activities and Community

Through a wide variety of activities, from arts and crafts to outdoor adventures, girls are encouraged to build confidence, learn new skills, and make a positive difference in their community. The organisation is run by dedicated volunteers and is always looking for adults to help support their units and manage long waiting lists.
