Ilkley Carnival is a much-loved annual event that brings the entire community together for a day of fun, entertainment, and celebration. Held on the Bank Holiday Monday in May, it is a non-profit, volunteer-run event that raises significant funds for local community groups, charities, and good causes.
The carnival’s main highlight is a spectacular parade that weaves through the town, attracting more than a thousand participants from local schools, community groups, and businesses. Each year, the parade follows a different theme, with participants creating dazzling floats and costumes.
After the parade, the action moves to the showground at East Holmes Field. The showground is packed with activities and attractions for the whole family, including:
- A main arena with headline acts and performances
- The “Ilkley Rocks” stage and an acoustic marquee featuring local musical talent
- A fun dog show and a classic car show
- A funfair with rides and games
- A variety of stalls, food and drink vendors, and other attractions
Ilkley Carnival is a cornerstone of the town’s social calendar, bringing thousands of residents and visitors together to celebrate the start of the summer season and support the local community.
