Ilkley Clean River Group is a campaign group dedicated to protecting the River Wharfe from pollution. The group’s mission is to ensure the river is safe for people and wildlife by tackling the issue of sewage and other forms of contamination.

Our Aims

The group has two key objectives:

• Stop Sewage Overflows: They aim to stop storm overflows of untreated sewage into the river outside of exceptional circumstances, ensuring that water companies comply with the law.
• Upgrade Infrastructure: They campaign for the upgrading of sewage treatment works and infrastructure to prevent both treated and untreated sewage from polluting the river.

Through these efforts, the Ilkley Clean River Group works to secure a cleaner, healthier river for the benefit of the entire community and the natural environment.
